Mount Amiata

SMount Amiata, an unusual and precious corner of Tuscany. Included in the provinces of Grosseto and Siena, dominates from the top of its people 1738 meters the surrounding valleys (val d’Orcia, val di Paglia), the superb plain of the Maremma, the sweet and suggestive Sienese hills, the green depression of Lake Bolsena.

The Amiata, an ancient extinct volcano (1738 mt. s.l.m.) and today a ski resort that attracts many tourists who love nature and sports in the pure air of an uncontaminated environment.

The practicable sporting activities are really numerous, from skiing (8 skilifts, 12 alpine ski slopes, 4 cross-country ski trails, 1 snow park) to winter sports in general, to trekking and hiking in an area rich in parks and nature reserves populated by deer, daini, chamois, wolves and roe deer, where the rocky boulders seem to defy the force of gravity, and the springs of thermal water, the streams and lakes draw landscapes that are nothing short of suggestive. For lovers of mountain biking and cycling, on Mount Amiata there are 6 paths that from the main road climb towards the summit through paths immersed in the woods, in the stretches where the forest opens up you can enjoy breathtaking views.
